WONDAR PROJECT
FEATURED PORTFOLIO
A growing body of work displaying the skill of the up-and-coming Chase Gardner. This space exhibits my understanding of value, form, proportion, and composition.
Greyscale Genesis
Portrait: Gorgeous in Grey

A meticulously stylized portrait of a dear friend. This work displays my keen understanding of proportion and directional mark-making.
Composition: Gothic Resonance
Portrait: "The Star Parallel"
Portraiture study focused on texture rendering and dark value against lighter value. Texture with value was concluded to push the illusion of hardness.

A detailed composition including reference from the Cologne Cathedral, drawn to emphasize depth and perspective, whilst also displaying my acuity to linework.

Composition: "Babylon"
A simple one-point perspective composition done with black pen and marker on Bristol. I also consider this good work because of my successful take on stylized font.

Portrait: Monochromatic Softness
Portrait done with vine charcoal on Bristol. Not made to emphasize detail, but rather to study how certain textures can be achieved with certain mediums, like the softness of skin or hair.

Gesture Within Observation
My favorite composition that includes a model drawn from life done with vine charcoal on paper. The detail makes the subject stand out as the focal point amongst the rest of the loosely rendered environment, including a gesture of the drawing itself.

"King Of Monsters"

A composition made to display the terrifying scale of Godzilla. While the background could've included darker value, I maintain my opinion of the success of this composition.
Stone Age: an exploration of a new medium

These character designs are representative of my exploration of color and layering. Each rendered with alchohal markers and tinted with white color pencil where needed.
